Camden County offers exceptional national and international access to transit via air, road, rail and ship. It’s prime connectedness is thanks to the county’s proximity to Jacksonville International Airport; Naval Air Station Jacksonville; and some of the East Coast’s busiest ports, including Savannah and Jacksonville, the latter a mere 20 minutes away by road or rail. Camden County is home to Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay – the only navy base in Georgia – and the Atlantic Fleet Trident (Ballistic) Missile Submarine Force.
The area also features the ports of Brunswick and Fernandina. Camden County has seven I-95 exits and is served by the CSX railroad. Whether your business relies primarily on shipping or receiving, your products, materials and parts are within easy reach to or from anyplace in the world.
But transportation isn’t our only asset. Our county hosts two universities, a college, a technical college, an award-winning high school to train and equip our workforce, and an award-winning hospital.
With public water and sewer systems, the county is also served by Georgia Power, Okefenokee Rural Electric, Atlanta Gas Light and TDS Telecom.
Camden County contains tremendous advantages to marine related industry, from our close proximity to the intracoastal waterway, to protection from hurricanes by marsh areas and barrier islands, and our tremendous local and regional transitioning military workforce. The Authority recently cooperated with Thomas J. Murray & Associates of Virginia to complete a Marine Industry Feasibility Study.
