Caraustar manufactures spiral wound, paper core tubes for multiple uses including paper, fabric, film and many other things. Caraustar serves customers in markets throughout the United States with the Woodbine Plant covering an area from Miami to Panama City, Florida and Charleston, South Carolina. Caraustar is headquartered in Austell, Georgia and has plants throughout the United States. The Woodbine Plant was formerly part of Summer Industries which relocated from Nassau County, Florida to Camden County, Georgia.
Camden County's newest manufacturer, Foodie' J, recently started production this month at its factory in Kingsland. Members of the Camden County Chamber of Commerce and the Joint Development Authority toured the production facility last week. They presented owners Xiao Lei Jiang and Weiyi Xu with a certificate welcoming them to the community and declaring Kingsland the "Egg Roll Capital of Georgia."
Camden County has been selected as a finalist for a satellite manufacturer seeking to construct a production facility near a spaceport and with convenient access to other spaceport facilities in the eastern U.S.. The company referred to as Project Orbit would bring 100 jobs with an average salary of $85,000 / year. The Joint Development Authority and county officials are working to close the deal with this company while also in negotiations with other manufacturers and space operators.
